San Marcos Design Manual Updates

Welcome! Thank you for your interest in the City of San Marcos Design Manual update. The San Marcos Design Manual is an aide in meeting the design related standards of the San Marcos Development Code. The Design Manual addresses topics such as Downtown Design Guidelines, Parklets & Sidewalk Cafes, Historic Guidelines, and the Preferred Plant List.

This update includes proposed edits to the Design Manual to help implement the Vision SMTX Comprehensive Plan, address new types of development, and provide additional resources for trees, shrubs, and other vegetation in the City. Using this interactive space, you can provide your feedback on the proposed edits!

How to provide your comments:

  1. Review the Plan: Navigate through the document to explore the proposed edits. All proposed edits are indicated in red within the document.
  2. Review the Justification Table: Want to know more about why a specific change is proposed? Open the Code Justification Table here and navigate to the associated edit number to learn more (ex: #D-2).
  3. Provide Feedback: To provide your feedback, click anywhere in the document to leave a comment.
    • Let us know what you think of the edit;
    • Propose a new edit;
    • Ask a question about a proposed edit.
